Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats continued his Outside Westminster Tour in Newcastle yesterday:

1203 – Nick Clegg arrives at Newcastle Central Station and heads to the Bellway housing development construction site.

Bellway are currently building new council houses for the city council, the new housing is the first council housing being built in the city in 35 years. Joined by Leader of Newcastle City Council John Shipley, Nick toured the site with the site manager.

Nick was then introduced to two young apprentices – Peter Kelly and Johnny Hoyle, who are working on the site and joined them in laying bricks for the new houses.

He then climbed on to the roof of one of the houses they are working on to see the solar panels that are being installed on the new properties.

1400 – Nick tours The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art and meets with Liberal Democrat MEP Fiona Hall by the Millennium Bridge.
