Party Leader Talks See Progress on Expenses Reform

Speaking after meetings between all party leaders to discuss reform of MPs’ expenses, Nick Clegg, Leader of the Liberal Democrats said:

“Today’s talks saw more progress in a single day than we have seen over many decades. Finally MPs will no longer decide their own pay or write their own rules.

There are still many issues that need to be solved if we are to restore people’s trust.

But hopefully we have taken the first step on a long journey that sees Parliament dragged from the 19th Century into the 21st.”
